Day one of driving: otherwise known as journey to the centre of Ft St John, BC

Today's drive didn't start as early as we had expected. We left the house about 615am and after an order mishap at McDonald's that caused Paul to do a u-turn in front of Jacob's Industry to race back to McDonald's, we were on the highway by 645am.
It is funny what kids say, we were just on mountain view and I remembered I wanted to get a picture of us driving in the van, so pulled out my iPad and Hannah comments, "wow, mom! We aren't even on the road 5 minutes and you bring out your iPad!" Kids are smarty pants!

About 25kms from town, we were flagged down by a lady. She had a flat tire and her cellphone didn't work in Yukon.  She borrowed Paul's phone to call for roadside assistance. While talking to her, she told us she was going to visit her daughter who just had a baby in Mayo. After she finished her call, she assured us she was ok and that we could go. Nice to start the day off with a good deed.

One of the things we notice while on our trips are bathrooms and outhouses. I guess who can't not notice them. Today we had to use 2 that made us have to hold our breaths and "hover" while using. Hannah and I were envious of the boys who could stand....lol.

We saw quite a bit of wildlife today. There were lots of bears, moose, caribou, sheep, rabbits, and bison. We also saw a lynx, coyote, 2 cranes and 2 dead porcupines (one on 2 Mile Hill when we left Whitehorse!)

We drove 1342km today and are happy to be in Ft St John for the night.
